A family crisis may take many forms. A job loss, medical problems or other unexpected events can cause even usually stable families to need help. A fire may take away a family’s home and sense of security. Sometimes it is violence that is the cause of a family’s crisis. Sexual assault, domestic violence, child sexual abuse, physical abuse and child neglect require professional assistance to ensure the victim will be safe, supported, and on the path to a better life.

More than 268 Hall County child victims of sexual abuse and their families benefited from individual and family therapy and support groups provided by Family Relations Program in 2005.

In 2005, 95 women and 99 children victimized by domestic violence found safe shelter, food, emergency medical supplies and referrals to social services while being assisted in making a plan for a life free from violence at Gateway House.

Adolescent and adult survivors of sexual assault receive a full range of services including a 24 hour crisis line, hospital accompaniment, criminal justice support and follow-up clinical intervention through Rape Response. 267 victims from 20 counties were assisted in 2005.
